All-Weather Road Proponent Remains Optimistic

The chairman of the Athabasca Economic Development and Training Corporation says he’s encouraged by some recent words from the province’s highways minister.
Last week, Wayne Elhard said the government would move ahead with work on an all-weather road link to Wollaston Lake and upgrades to Highway 905.
Both are considered key parts of the corporation’s goal to see an all-weather road network built in the Far North.
However, Elhard would not commit to following the plan set out by the previous NDP government’s “Roads to Prosperity” initiative.
Corporation chairman Glen Strong says he takes the minister at his word and hopes the federal government comes to the table.
He also suggests that industry lend a hand, too.
Strong adds he has a meeting with the Ministry of Highways later this month.
