All-Weather Road Network on Backburner

The chair of the Athabasca All-Weather Road Planning Committee says progress is slow right now in the quest to build a road network in the Far North.

Glen Strong says he recently received a letter from the provincial government indicating that while it would provide 300-thousand dollars a year in partnership funding, it was hesitant to discuss any talk of a road to Fond du Lac.

As well, Strong says the money the province is talking about falls short of what he had been hoping for.

Strong adds a planned environmental study has not yet begun, due to extremely wet weather.

He hopes to resume talks with both levels of government once the federal election is over.
