The chief of the Moosomin First Nation is applauding a recent court decision.

Darlene Swiftwolfe says that on January 12th a judge at court of queen’s bench ruled in her band’s favour in relation to a dispute involving the Gold Eagle Lodge Hotel.

The band has a stake in the business and Swiftwolfe says they want to see some financial records on how it’s doing.

She says she hopes to receive information from the Battlefords Tribal Council in the near future.

Meantime the chief operating officer of the Battlefords Tribal Council says he’s happy to provide the information.

Russ Brown adds it was always available to chief and council, they just had to ask.

He says the information will now be sent to the band and they can decide what to do with their shares.
