The emergency boil water order issued for Air Ronge and most of the affected surrounding reserves has been lifted.

However, northern medical health officer Dr. James Irvine says people living on the Bell’s Point Reserve will have to continue to boil their water while the Lac La Ronge Indian Band contiunes clean-up efforts there.

Environment and health officials announced this morning that residents in the village and the Bigstone, Fairchild, Mikisiw and Far Reserves are able to drink water from the tap again following the return of 2 consecutive negative tests for harmful bacteria.

It was almost 3 weeks ago that the emergency order was issued for Air Ronge and the surrounding reserves after workers noticed that a sewer line had burst, contaminating the water supply.
