Ahtahkakoop Elder Dies In Single Vehicle Crash

A single vehicle rollover has claimed the life of an elder from the Ahtahkakoop First Nation.
The 67-year-old man was driving a pickup on a grid road near Canwood yesterday afternoon when he lost control of the vehicle and rolled it into the ditch.
He died at the scene.
The RCMP say loose gravel and washboard conditions on the road may have been contributing factors — but add that the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
The victim’s name won’t be released until permission is given by his family.
