The chief of the Ahtahkakoop First Nation says he takes exception to Jeremy Harrison comparing his reserve to a banana republic.

Larry Ahenakew is demanding an apology from the former Conservative MP, saying Harrison’s charges are without merit.

He says he thinks he can still work with Harrison if his bid for a recount in Desnethe-Missinippi-Churchill River turns out to be successful. However, Ahenakew says fences will have to be mended.

Ahenakew confirms a raffle did indeed take place on the reserve as some reports have alleged. But he says it was open to everyone on his reserve, regardless of their political stripe.
