Ahenakew Shares About Cancer Battle

Students learned about breast cancer awareness yesterday at the First Nations University in Regina.

More than 30 people gathered to hear Sandra Ahenakew tell the story of her family’s battle with cancer.

Ahenakew also showed her documentary film, “One of the One Per Cent”.

She says she chose to show the film at the university because it’s important for young women to see it.

“It was a way of getting to the target audience, you know, the students and the women here at First Nations University, and all people that have a vested interest in this — anybody that loves a woman,” Ahenakew says.

The film was produced last year, and it chronicles Ahenakew’s battle with cancer.
