Accused In Broadview Bar Murder Identified

The 20-year-old man charged in a fatal bar fight this past weekend in Broadview has been named by police.

 

Karl Eldon Lerat faces one count of murder and one count of aggravated assault.

 

He is accused of the death of 18-year-old Matthew Troy McKay of the Ochapowace First Nation, and an assault on 20-year-old Jordan Lee Taypotat that left the Kahkewistahaw First Nation member with severe cuts to his face.

 

After a first appearance this morning, Lerat is now scheduled to make his next court appearance on

Nov. 25 in Broadview Provincial Court.
