Traditional knowledge and science are taking centre stage at the two-day First Nations and Metis Science Fair at the First Nations University of Canada this week.

More than 120 students in 60 different teams from across the province are taking part in the event.

This year, a traditional knowledge category was included in the competition, with projects ranging from a Cree fishing gill net to a traditional first aid kit.

FSIN Vice-Chief Lyle Whitefish says elders recommended that they include traditional knowledge in the event.

The fair is set to run until tomorrow.
