Two Aboriginal-produced films have snagged Golden Sheaf Awards at the Yorkton Film Festival.

“Dogs Lyfe: Burdens of a Gangsta Rapper”, directed by Cory Generoux and featuring hip-hop artist Robin Favel — also known as Burden — took the award for best film in the Aboriginal category.

An episode of Dennis Jackson’s animated series “Wapos Bay”, “Raiders of the Lost Art”, was named best children’s production.

In related news, northern audiences may remember Anand Ramayya from his La Ronge years. He is now a film producer, director and screenwriter, and his film “Mad Cow Sacred Cow” won the Best in Saskatchewan award and the award for best research.
