An Aboriginal-run drilling company is nominated for three Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce Achievement in Business Excellence awards.

Eagle Drilling Services operates near Carlyle.

Derrick Big Eagle started the company three years ago, and since then, it’s grown rapidly.

Big Eagle says the original plan was to have three rigs operating by this time, but in about a month, a sixth rig will start drilling.

Eagle Drilling is nominated in the categories of job creation and investment, while Big Eagle himself is nominated for the business leader of the year award.

Two years ago, Eagle Drilling won the ABEX award for business of the year.

The awards will be handed out next month in Regina.
