The Peacekeepers Pedaling for Aboriginals with Diabetes team has reached Parliament Hill in Ottawa.

The group, including six members of the Saskatoon Police Service and FSIN Vice-Chief Guy Lonechild arrived there this morning.

This year’s portion of the trek began on May 22nd in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Since then, the group has biked more than 1,700 kms — at times in rain and snow — in an effort to educate and raise awareness about diabetes in the Aboriginal community.

Sgt. Troy Nadon says everyone feels good about the trip and the amount of publicity they were able to attract.

The cyclists were met by members of the Assembly of First Nations at Parliament.

The group will return home to Saskatoon tomorrow.
