A Metis artist and curator from Regina will be part of a delegation to Venice next month.

David Garneau and four other Aboriginal curators will be travelling to the Venice Biennale, where they can share their knowledge of contemporary and international Aboriginal art practices.

It’s a gathering of artists from around the world, as well as critics and curators.

Garneau says events like this are very important to Aboriginal artists and curators like himself.

Last year, Garneau made connections with artists in Australia, one of whom will be an artist in residence in Regina for a month.

Garneau says this year’s event is the most important art event in two years.

The curators’ trip is funded by the Canada Council for the Arts.

They will be in Venice from June 3rd to the 11th.
