Whitefish Man Pleads Guilty to Sexual Assault

The case of a 20-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl on the Whitefish reserve was heard in Cree court yesterday.

The man, who cannot be identified to protect the identity of the girl, pleaded guilty to the charge and will appear in court for sentencing on September 12th.

The case has drawn a lot of attention. The girl was charged with infanticide last October after the body of a baby, believed to be the man’s, was found in a forest near her home.
