Wartman Says Far North Road Issues Not Ignored

Highways Minister Mark Wartman’s four-day tour of Northern Saskatchewan has come and gone.

Wartman’s travels took him to the communities of Pelican Narrows and La Loche this week, where he examined the various transport projects underway in those areas, including progress on the Garson Lake road initiative and upgrades to the La Loche airport.

Wartman’s itinerary did not include trips to the Far North, but he says he already has a good idea of the

concerns in those areas — namely, the delay in the construction of all-weather roads.

Wartman continues to blame Ottawa for much of the delay in northern projects everywhere.

He adds it’s not fair for the feds to play the waiting game in funding when the province has already stepped up to the plate.
