Trial Date Set for Man Accused of Dragging Woman

A pre-trial hearing for the accused in a case the FSIN wanted prosecuted as a hate crime was held in Prince Albert this morning.

 

43-year-old Meath Park resident Anthony Barr stands charged with manslaughter in the death of Cynthia Louise Sanderson.

 

The 25-year-old Aboriginal woman came into contact with a vehicle and was dragged to her death on a Prince Albert street last August.

 

Witnesses allegedly heard the driver of the vehicle utter racially-charged insults shortly before Sanderson’s death.

 

Judge Allison Rathery announced this morning the trial will proceed on December 1st. A jury will be selected on October 6th.
