Three more communities in the North have developed community reference panels to provide advice to government departments and local service providers.

Sandy Bay, Pinehouse, and Ile a la Crosse are now part of the Community Reference Program, which provides a voice and feedback mechanism related to social programs in their communities.

The panels are a collaboration of community-based organizations, clients of Saskatchewan Community Resources and Employment (formerly Social Services) and other community stakeholders.

The program also provides a forum for exchanging information and planning around community development and integrated human services at a local level.

New North spokesman Al Loke says they learned a lot from the pilot reference panels in Beauval and Cumberland House, which will continue to receive funding.
