A plan to send 50 more Saskatchewan firefighters to battle forest fires in B-C has been scrapped.

There is currently 72 firefighters from this province helping out in B-C, and earlier this week, fire officials had indicated plans were in the works to send 50 more today.

However, provincial fire centre spokesman John Cook says recent hot, dry conditions in this province and a changing fire hazard has forced Saskatchewan Environment to call off those plans.

Cook says there is a significant fire hazard from Prince Albert to Hudson Bay, as well as in the Pelican Narrows region.
