About 12 people are occupying the band office in a protest at the Thunderchild First Nation in west central Saskatchewan.

One of the band members supporting the protest is Margaret Wapass.

She says the band office was closed by Chief and council this morning and the RCMP are currently at the administration building interviewing the protestors.

The dispute is fueled by accusations of financial mismanagement and an apparent lack of communication between elected band officials and the Thunderchild elder’s council.

Wapass says the protest is likely to continue until the group occupying the band office has a chance to meet with Chief Winston Weekush and his council.
