Enhancing the development of west-side communities is the focus of a three-day workshop that started Tuesday in Buffalo Narrows.

Over 50 people are taking part in the conference titled ‘Building Capacity for Community Development.’

Former La Ronge resident Meredith Moore is one of the coordinators of the event. Moore says the workshops involve several different community stakeholders. She says an identical workshop will be held in La Ronge later this month.

Youth Program Coordinator Gerald Roy of the Keewatin Yatthe Regional Health Authority is one of the facilitators at the conference. Roy feels participants have a great opportunity to make an impact in their communities.

The Northern Diabetes Prevention coalition, Northern Human Services Partnership and Kidsfirst North are the driving forces behind the initiative.
