Northern Uranium Mines Nearly Shut Out

Northern uranium mines weren’t very prominent at this year’s Saskatchewan Mining emergency response competitions in Regina.

 

Cogema’s McCLean Lake operation was the lone uranium mine winner, taking first place in the surface first aid competition.

 

Saskatchewan potash mines dominated the winners’ circle.

 

SaskMining spokesman Phil Reeves says the competitions focus on safety practices required at mine sites.

 

According to Reeves, the turnout was good, but some northern mine sites like McArthur River and Key Lake weren’t able to send teams to this year’s competition for obvious reasons
