Saskatchewan Highways and Transportation Minister Mark Wartman is on a tour of Northern Saskatchewan this week to experience first hand the transportation issues in the North.

Wartman met with community leaders in Pelican Narrows yesterday, and has a similar meeting scheduled with local officials in La Loche tomorrow.

While in La Loche, Wartman will also be inspecting the La Loche airport, which is undergoing renovations this summer, and the Garson Lake Road.

Wartman’s department operates and maintains about 5-thousand kilometres of roads and 16 airports in the Northern Administrative District. The department also operates the Wollaston Lake Barge in partnership with the local economic development corporation.
