A relatively new business venture for the Lac La Ronge Indian Band is literally going wild.

Kitsaki Management’s expansion into the wild mushroom wholesaling business is off to a bumper start this year.

Kitsaki spokesman Ray McKay says, so far, this has been a good year for mushrooms, especially for morels.

The next crop of mushrooms to be picked will be Chanterelles.

Following the Chanterelles will be the Pine mushrooms, which McKay says are the most lucrative of the bunch.

McKay says the mushroom business isn’t making a lot of money for Kitsaki at this point, but it is generating work for a lot of people.

Currently, there are 15 band members working at the plant.
