Saskatchewan is sending another 124 firefighters to B-C to help with that province’s extreme forest fire situation.

That will bring the total number of Saskatchewan firefighters fighting blazes in B-C to 195.

Most of the firefighters the province is sending are from Northern Saskatchewan.

Spokesman John Cook says Saskatchewan can afford to send a large contingent of firefighters to B-C because there are so few fires burning in Saskatchewan right now.

At last word, there were only 13 fires burning in Saskatchewan — and only one was listed as being out of control.

In comparison, there are 835 fires burning in B-C right now.
