The province has announced improvements to La Loche Community School will likely begin next year.

Three million dollars in capital funding has been earmarked by the NDP government to help the school expand and deal with the issue of overcrowding.

As well, one million dollars more will come from the Northern Lights School Division.

Nelson Wagner of Saskatchewan Learning says the project is part of the government’s new strategy for improving learning centres.

Wagner says it’s up to the school division to decide when the improvements will happen.

Meetings have to take place between department heads and plans need to be drawn up before any renovations can begin.
