An annual gathering founded by late Metis senator Louis Morin begins near Buffalo Narrows today.

Palmbere Days at Palmbere Lake is annually hosted by the Clearwater-Clear Lake Metis Regional Council.

It offers a chance for not only Metis to come together to discuss issues of mutual concern, but also First Nations and the provincial government.

Senator Morin was a big proponent of First Nations and Metis people in the North working together.

In fact, that’s the theme of this year’s gathering: “Working Together for a Better Future”.

The event wraps up on Sunday. The activities planned for the final day include the annual procession to Senator Morin’s Memorial Cairn.
