The Saskrivers school division is renewing an initiative designed to assist grandparents of aboriginal school children.

Kookum’s corner will be held for another year at Queen Mary Community School, and any grandparent who is providing for their grandchildren on a day-to-day basis is invited to the support meetings which are held every Monday at 12:30 p.m.

Saskrivers school coordinator Linda Greyeyes says they’re hoping to see grandfathers out this year as well.

Greyeyes explains the gatherings are informal matters where people talk about everything from financial challenges to cooking recipes.

She adds one of the main reasons for the gatherings is to let grandparent providers know they’re not alone and others are willing to help.
