Saskatchewan’s Northwest Industrial Training Program has produced its first tradesperson — Kris Gladue of the Meadow Lake Tribal Council.

Gladue was recently awarded his interprovincial red seal certificate in welding, based on successful completion of work experience reinforced with technical training.

He’s now working with RobWel Constructors in Meadow Lake.

Ten additional apprentices are moving toward their journeyman status. Half of the apprentices are of Aboriginal ancestry.

The training program is based in Meadow Lake and is a partnership of forestry-related businesses, the Forestry Training Sub-Committee and the Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission.
