Fire Officials Keep Close Eye on Highway 155

A northern highway that was shut down intermittently over the weekend due to the forest fire hazard is now open.

Although the Hillyer fire around the Beauval area is not yet under control, Highway 155 between Green Lake and Beauval is currently open.

Forest Fire Control spokesman John Cook says the fire is currently occupying over 85-hundred hectares of land.

Cook says the humid and cool conditions yesterday and today should help firefighters in their efforts.

There are currently 312 firefighters battling the blaze.
