A 21-year-old man from Dillon drowned over the weekend.

It happened early Saturday morning near the community of St. George’s Hill.

The RCMP say the man entered the Dillon River but was unable to safely reach shore.

Corporal Brian Jones says it appears the man’s inability to reach shore was due to a combination of cold water temperatures and a strong current.

A search was conducted shortly afterwards, but his body was not recovered until several hours later.
