Belanger Plays Down Timing of Nomination Meeting

Environment and Northern Affairs Minister Buckley Belanger says people shouldn’t read too much into the fact that the NDP’s nomination meeting for his riding is taking place this week.

Belanger says even though the Athabasca NDP constituency association is hosting its nomination meeting in Ile-a-la-Crosse on Thursday, that doesn’t mean a provincial election is around the corner.

Belanger says, as far as he knows, he is the only person running for the NDP nomination in the Athabasca riding, but he says people are free to run against him.

The meeting is scheduled to start at 5 pm Thursday at the Ile-a-la-Crosse Friendship Centre.
