Belanger Expected to Win Nomination Unchallenged

Northern Affairs Minister Buckley Belanger is expected to get the Athabasca NDP riding association’s blessing tonight as its candidate for the next provincial election.

The NDP’s nomination meeting for the Athabasca riding is taking place tonight in Belanger’s home community of Ile-a-la-Crosse.

Belanger insists the timing of the meeting isn’t a sign that the premier will call a fall election.

While other NDP members are free to run against Belanger for the nomination, that isn’t expected to happen.
