A Grade 12 student from Beauval is one of only 10 high school students across Saskatchewan to win this year’s Prince of Wales Scholarship.

Leanne Lafleur attends Valley View Community School.

The provincial government scholarships are worth 500 dollars each, and are paid out in two installments during the student’s Grade 12 year.

The scholarships are designed to recognize students from community schools that combine school-based and community-based leadership initiative with academic performance.

This is the second year the scholarships have been handed out.

Other winners of note this year include Jennifer Sara Lee Bear of Wesmor Community High School in Prince Albert and Melissa Dumont of Stobart Community High School in Duck Lake.
