Beauval Musician Garners Two Award Nominations

Six Saskatchewan artists are finalists in this year’s Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards.

 

The nominees were announced last week.

 

Muskoday’s Chester Knight, Beauval’s Mitch Daigneault and Prince Albert’s Vern Cheechoo lead the way among Saskatchewan nominees with 2 nominations each.

 

Night is nominated for Best Rock Album and Best Songwriter.

 

Daigneault is nominated in the Best Male Artist and Best Songwriter categories.

 

Cheechoo is vying for a win in the Best Duo or Group and Best Country Album categories.

 

Other nominees include Saskatoon’s Andrea Menard, who is nominated for the Best Folk Album award.

 

As well, the White Fish Juniors from Big River and the Little Island Cree from the Ministikwin First Nation have received nominations in the Best Hand Drum Album category.

 

The awards will be handed out November 28th in downtown Toronto.

 

This is the 5th year for the event.
