The RCMP says there was an attempted murder on the Big Island Lake Cree Nation over the weekend, but it didn’t involve any local residents.

30-year-old Vancouver resident Kenneth Goulet is facing a charge of attempted murder in connection to the stabbing of another Vancouver man at a residence on the reserve late Saturday evening.

The victim was stabbed in the chest and taken to hospital in Edmonton.

The accused was arrested Sunday morning and has made an appearance in Meadow Lake Provincial Court.
