A Metis woman who used to live in Prince Albert is set to make television history.

Andrea Menard has a leading role in the new series “Moccasin Flats”, which was written, produced and directed by an all-Aboriginal team.

The show’s creators say that it is a ground-breaking achievement for Canadian television.

Menard now calls Saskatoon home but has strong ties with both the Prince Albert and Metis communities.

She says the show tells the brutal and realistic stories of what it’s like for Aboriginal youth to grow up in Regina’s inner city.

Menard plays the role of Constable Strong Eagle.

The show is set to debut on the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network next year.
