For the second straight year Fort Carlton historic park is hosting a night of candlelit story-telling by a first-nations artist.

Joseph Naytowhow will perform inside a tent on the grounds of the old Hudson Bay trading post beginning at eight o’clock tomorrow (Saturday) night.

Program coordinator Janice Crawford says some of the language will be in Cree but Naytowhow will explain the significance and meaning of the words as the story goes along.

Crawford adds the role of First Nations people in the fur trade is often overlooked but they did play a significant role in its development and that is part of the reason why the park keeps operating.

The fort is located on highway 212, just northwest of Beardy’s Okemasis reserve.
