19-year-old Man Killed in Hit and Run in Red Earth

The RCMP is continuing to investigate a fatal hit and run on the Red Earth First Nation.

 

It happened at about 4 o’ clock Friday morning on the north end of the main road that runs through the community.

 

The Mounties say 19-year-old Dane McKay was struck by a vehicle while he was lying on the road.

 

He died from his injuries.

 

RCMP Corporal Brian Jones says it’s still not clear as to why the victim was lying on the road.

 

The vehicle that struck McKay left the scene, but the RCMP was able to track down the vehicle and has since spoken to everyone that was in the vehicle at the time.

 

Police say no charges have been laid and no one is in custody.

 

Jones says it’s still too early to say if charges will eventually be laid.
