A woman has entered a guilty plea for her role in a Grandmother Bay death that dates back to October.

This week, Josephine Roberts, in her late 30s, entered a plea of manslaughter – a lesser plea than her charge of second-degree murder – in relation to the death of a 39-year-old woman.

RCMP did not release the victim’s name when the charge was laid, but MBC has confirmed her identity as Candace Roberts, who was also known as Arlene.

Police found her dead around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 17 after receiving a call for an assault in a home on the reserve.

Josephine was arrested after Mounties started investigating, and has been in custody since then.

She will receive her sentence in La Ronge in two months.
