Nine people have been taken into custody following an incident on the Onion Lake Cree Nation yesterday morning.

At one point, Mounties were advising residents in the area to stay in their homes.

However, the RCMP say there was no risk to public safety.

They were called to investigate a complaint of an assault at a residence on the reserve.

Mounties say the arrests were made without incident.

Seven males and two females were taken into custody.

At last word, RCMP were asking the public to respect police boundaries put in place as they continued their investigation.
