Missinipi Broadcasting Corporation has an immediate opening for a full time news broadcaster/reporter. The successful candidate will work from the La Ronge broadcast centre and prepare and anchor regular news /sportscasts as well as cover local/regional events and update news content on the MBC web site.

MBC is proud to serve Saskatchewan’s First Nations & Métis population. Our signal originates from the hub of Saskatchewan’s North. We reach our audience through one of the most extensive Aboriginal satellite radio networks in Canada. With transmitters in over 70 communities, including major centres like Saskatoon, Regina, Prince Albert, North Battleford and Yorkton; MBC can be heard almost anywhere in Saskatchewan.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide broadcast-ready written story submissions with audio attachments.
• Ensure stories are factual, current and aired quickly and accurately.
• Inform News Director of any major breaking story.
• Develop news stories as assigned.
• Conduct and edit news interviews, write scripts and present finished product in a timely and professional manner.
• Cover local news events with reporting on the scene or live as needed.
• Be available for any major events at any time as determined by the News Director.
• Prepare all submissions according to station format, style, content and philosophy.
• Ensure continuing website updates and maintenance.
• Edit and post daily news/sports stories and audio content on the MBC website.


QUALIFICATIONS
• Applicants must be professionally trained in radio broadcasting and/or have a minimum 1 year experience as a radio broadcaster.
• Excellent communication and organization skills.
• A strong sense of community and local involvement.
• Ability to work independently, meet all deadlines and demonstrate attention to detail.
• Exceptional computer skills
• Understanding of Aboriginal culture and issues relevant to First Nations and Métis people would be an asset.
• Must be a self-motivated, detail-oriented, energetic self-starter who can take direction.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation considered an asset.
• Working knowledge of KLZ Newsroom and Macromedia Dreamweaver MX would be very beneficial.

Missinipi Broadcasting Corporation has an immediate opening for a News Reporter to be based in Regina, SK.

MBC is a progressive community-owned radio network serving Saskatchewan’s First Nations & Métis population. Broadcasts originate from La Ronge, the hub of Saskatchewan’s North. MBC is available in over 70 communities creating one of the most extensive Aboriginal radio networks in Canada.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Working from a home-based office, the Regina reporter would be required to:

• Provide broadcast-ready written story submissions with audio attachments.
• Ensure stories are factual, current and aired quickly and accurately.
• Inform News Director of any major breaking story.
• Generate interesting story ideas and bring new story ideas to the table daily.
• Develop news stories as assigned.
• Conduct and edit news interviews, write scripts and present finished product in a timely and professional manner.
• Cover local news events with reporting on the scene or live as needed.
• Story development, investigating and researching a broad range of issues.
• Be available for any major events at any time as determined by the News Director.
• Prepare all submissions according to station format, style, content and philosophy

QUALIFICATIONS
• Applicants must be professionally trained in radio broadcasting and have a minimum of 1year of radio newsroom experience.
• Excellent communication and organization skills.
• A strong sense of community news and local involvement.
• Ability to work independently.
• Excellent computer skills with audio preparation capability and Internet access.
• Understanding of Aboriginal culture and issues relevant to First Nations and Metis people is an asset.
• Must be a self-motivated, detail-oriented, energetic self-starter who can take direction.
• Must have a valid driver’s licence and access to reliable transportation.
• Excellent knowledge of local, regional and national news.
