FNUC Funding Focus Of Lobby Trip To Ottawa

Tuesday, March 09, 2010 at 13:25

Representatives of the First Nations University of Canada faculty and the FNUniv Students' Association left Regina this morning for Ottawa.

They are heading to the nation's capital to appeal the federal govermnent's decision to end $7 million in funding for the school at the end of the month.

The head of the English department at the FNUC, Randy Lundy, says taxpayers have already invested in the university for 34 years and it would be a waste to close it now.

Students association president Diane Adams says the university has done a lot of good in the community, despite its management problems.

FSIN Chief Guy Lonechild is expected to join them in Ottawa.

The Canadian Association of University Teachers is sponsoring the trip.
